Privacy Policy
SafeCast is a local-first Chrome screen recorder. Recordings and related data stay on your device unless you choose to export and share them.
1. What SafeCast records
SafeCast captures only the screen, browser tab, application window, microphone, system or tab audio, and camera sources that you explicitly select through Chrome and SafeCast controls.
2. Where recordings are stored
Recording chunks, recording metadata, thumbnails, preferences, and conversion state are stored locally on your device using browser-managed extension storage. SafeCast does not upload your recordings to a SafeCast server.
SafeCast does not automatically delete your recordings. You control when a recording is exported or deleted through the extension.
3. Accounts and personal information
SafeCast does not require an account. The extension does not collect names, email addresses, passwords, payment information, browsing history, or precise location data.
4. Data transmission and sharing
SafeCast does not sell, rent, or share recording data with advertisers or data brokers. The current extension does not transmit recordings or usage analytics to SafeCast-operated servers.
When you export a recording, Chrome saves the requested file to your device. Any later sharing or uploading of that exported file is controlled by you and by the service you choose to use.
5. Permissions
SafeCast uses Chrome permissions to store recording data locally, support large recordings, run background MP4 conversion, save exports, and notify you about recording health or interruptions. These permissions are used only for SafeCast's screen-recording, recovery, local-library, and export functions.
6. Data retention
Local recording data remains on your device until you delete it in SafeCast, clear the extension's browser data, uninstall the extension, or Chrome removes the extension's storage. Exported files remain wherever you save them until you remove them yourself.
7. Security
SafeCast minimizes remote-data risk by keeping recording data on the user's device. No software can guarantee absolute security, and access to local recordings also depends on the security of your device and browser profile.
8. Children's privacy
SafeCast is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If SafeCast's data handling changes, this policy will be updated before or when the relevant product change is released. The updated date at the top will also change.
